18kt yellow gold choker necklace (hallmark: owl) finely chiselled decorated with superb angel skin coral cabochons. Vintage work, certainly Italian. Gross weight: 23.60 g Length: 35.00 cm Pattern height: 1.70 cm Condition: very light micro scratches on the gold parts, see photos. Did you know that we talk about angel skin when the coral has this pale pink tint? It is historically in Italy, at Torre del Greco, near Naples, that the coral is worked, so it is quite naturally the Italian language which is behind the naming of the different colors: bianco (white), pello d'anhelo (angel skin), rosa viso (bright pink), secondo coloro (salmon color), rosso (red) rosso scuro (dark red), ariscuro (very dark red), carbonatto (oxblood red, very dark).
