Exceptional retro belt bracelet in polonaise mesh with clasp set with diamonds. Length adjustable by three notches in the mesh to 15.5-16.8-18.1 cm (6.1-6.6-7.1 inch) Width: 24 mm (0.944 inch) Estimated total weight diamonds : 0.45 Carats French work circa 1950, exceptional condition. Bracelet weight: 72.6 g 18-carat yellow gold, 750/1000th (owl hallmark) and platinum 850/1000th, (mascaron hallmark) Although we take great care to ensure the quality of our antique jewelry, it does have a history. As a result, some gems may be slightly polished and the metal may have a delicate patina. The belt shape was widely used in the 50s and 60s, and into the 70s, for bracelets, rings and secret watches. From the '50s onwards, following the "tank" style fashion launched in the '40s, jewelry shapes became more geometric, and the links of bracelets featured advanced and original goldsmithing techniques. For gold bracelets, these included Polish mesh (woven like a tapestry), braided mesh and tubogaz. The jewelry of those years was heavy in gold (the price of gold being more affordable at the time).
