Jean Schlumberger: The Craftsman of Creative Genius at Tiffany & Co.

Jean Schlumberger , one of the most talented artists of the 20th century, is known for his fantastical creations, adorned with diamonds and precious stones, on the theme of flora, fauna and textiles.

In 1937, fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli discovered Jean Schlumberger's artistic genius and hired him to direct the creation of her collections of buttons and fashion jewelry.

In 1956, Jean Schlumberger began his legendary collaboration with Tiffany & Co. , giving free rein to his boundless imagination, marking a turning point in the history of jewelry design.

During this period, his innovative spirit created pieces that have become iconic of Tiffany, such as the paillonné enamel bangles, the Cooper bracelet and the sixteen diamond ring .

In 1956, Jean Schlumberger was commissioned to set the world's largest yellow diamond – the 128.54-carat Tiffany Diamond . It has 82 facets, 24 more than a traditional brilliant.

In 1961, the Tiffany diamond definitively marked the history of the company when actress Audrey Hepburn wore it on the "Ribbon Rosette" necklace to promote the film Breakfast at Tiffany's .

58 years later, in 2019, the diamond reappeared around the neck of American singer Lady Gaga at the 91st Academy Awards, where she received the award for best song for A Star is Born .

More recently, in 2021, Tiffany & Co. chose American singer Beyoncé and her husband, rapper Jay-Z , to pay tribute to one of the most remarkable creations of Jean Schlumberger's career.
