Art Deco Target Ring in Yellow Gold, Platinum, Sapphires and Diamonds
Round engagement target ring in 18Kt yellow gold and platinum (hallmark: weevil) adorned in its center with old-fashioned cut diamonds, in a surround of calibrated synthetic sapphires, and a shoulder of rose-cut diamonds. Total weight of diamonds estimated at approximately 0.55 Ct. Art Deco work, circa 1930. Gross weight: 2.48g Pattern height: 1.20 cm Finger size: 54 (diameter 17.20 / US 6.75). Condition: very light micro scratches on the gold and platinum parts, slight wear of the setting, natural inclusions in the stones, see photos. Man has been able to make synthetic sapphires in the laboratory since the beginning of the 20th century. It was the French chemist Auguste Verneuil who developed the first process in 1902.
