Marquise ring, Victorian style, in 18kt yellow gold (hallmark: eagle's head), entirely adorned with opal cabochons. Vintage French work. Gross weight: 2.91g Ring size: 51 1/2 (diameter 16.25 / US 5.75) Pattern height: 1.70 cm Pattern width: 0.80 cm Condition: slight oxidation and slight micro scratches on the gold parts, natural inclusions in the opals, traces of glue on the back, see photos. Opal takes its name from the Greek "opallios" which refers to its color changes. It was also said that opal was a bearer of hope and a symbol of purity.
