Flavius Valens Roman Coin Ring
18kt rose gold ring (hallmark: owl) decorated with an ancient Roman copper coin. The coin, a "nummus", presents on the obverse a profile portrait, possibly that of Flavius Valens, Roman emperor of the 4th century (364-378) haloed with the words "Dominus Noster Valens Pius Felix Augustus" (Our Lord Valens Pious Happy Augustus). The reverse reveals an allegory of Victory holding a crown in the right hand and a palm in the left hand, surrounded by the maxim "Securitas Rei Publicae" (The Security of the Public Good). Artisanal work, handmade in Paris by our workshop, contemporary.
