The first model was made for Mr. Bulgari's wife in the early 1930s and was an immediate success because it allowed the precious stone to stand out. The shank of the Trombino ring consisted of a wide band of pavé-set diamonds, graduated to a horizontal line of baguette-cut diamonds.
