Art Nouveau Mistletoe Pendant Yellow Gold Pearls and Diamonds
Openwork medal pendant in 18K yellow gold and platinum (hallmark: eagle's head), representing a branch of mistletoe decorated with fine pearls and rose-cut diamonds. French work, Art Nouveau, circa 1900. Gross weight: 2.75 g Height (with bail): 3.60 cm width: 2.70 cm Condition: very light micro scratches and oxidation on the gold parts, light abrasion and shocks on the diamonds, see photos. Did you know that although the Art Nouveau movement was brief (1890 to 1910), its impact on the decorative arts was significant? Its influence extended from theater posters, to architecture, and of course, jewelry. The favorite themes of this style were women, wildlife, and of course flora as is the case here on this pendant.
